Mr. Mark Anthony Febbo
Position at SACA:   Language Arts Instructor
As English and General Studies Instructor at Southern Arizona Community Academy, my goal is to use classroom resources and my knowledge-base to help students fully achieve academic goals. In 2006, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona with a double major in English and creative writing. During the course of my university studies, I took pleasure in freelance writing for the Arizona Daily Star. I also served as managing editor of the Aztec Press, and technical editor of SandScript Literary Magazine. I was published in the UA's Persona Literary Magazine, and was the recipient of the 2006 Fred N. Scott Award for fiction writing.
When I am not teaching, writing, or playing my guitar, I spend a lot of time taking part in outdoor activities. I am a rafting and inflatable kayak enthusiast, and consider myself a river rat and monsoon warrior. In the past year, I have run over three-hundred miles of whitewater. I also enjoy archaeology, fishing, hiking, camping and backpacking.
My experiences in the workplace have been widely diverse: from janitorial and construction demolition, to bookkeeping and accounting, to archaeology and publication/editing. Thus far, teaching has provided me the most intellectual stimulation and fulfillment, and I am happy to be working as part of the SACA team.
