In the state of Arizona "Gifted Child" is defined as any child of lawful school age who displays superior intellect, advanced learning ability, or both, and who needs special instruction and services to reach appropriate levels of achievement.

Raven used as screening instrument for all students
97 percentile and above will be placed in program
87 percentile and above will be considered for placement by the SACA Gifted Matrix
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)

90 percentile and above will be considered for placement by the SACA Gifted Matrix
Goal: to develop a SACA Gifted Matrix for placement of students in the gifted program including those at risk, ELL and equity compared to school population Seminars for gifted students
